ClimEmpower was introduced to Croatian scientists and experts at the 4th SCIENTIFIC-EXPERT CONFERENCE Adaptations to climate change and preservation of marine ecosystems of the Adriatic Sea, held in Krk, Croatia, from 6th to 8th October 2023 in poster form. At the conference, the various works of more than 200 scientists and experts were presented, all pertaining to climate change and the need for resilient strategies for the mitigation of its effects. Over 70 representatives of 6 major Croatian Universities, scientific institutes, public institutions, ministry officials, NGOs and other experts presented various topics, such as the effects of climate change on the Adriatic Sea, overuse of maritime resources, sea pollution, etc., and discussed further steps that can and should be taken to up Croatia’s resilience to climate change, mainly how laws and regulations need to change and the public needs to be educated on the effects of climate change in order to exert actual change.
The conference proved a well of various information, mostly pertaining to the state, exploration, and exploitation of the Adriatic Sea and the effects of the (mis)use of its resources. There were many likeminded experts that provided possible data and strategy sources, as well as educational materials, that could, therefore, be potential associates of the ClimEmpower project.
