Name of the institution PLINIVS
Acronym PLINIVS
Country Italy
Short description

PLINIVS is a non-profit association whose main activities are research, training and
dissemination activities on seismic, volcanic, hydrogeological and climate-related risk
assessment (single-risk and multi-risk), impact damage scenarios modeling with reference
to the vulnerability and exposure, structural and technological retrofitting of buildings,
sustainable design of buildings and public spaces, Disaster Risk Reduction & Climate
Change Adaptation, emergency planning and decision-making support.
PLINIVS developed several probabilistic simulation models to assess the impacts of
geophysical (e.g., volcanic, and seismic) and climate-related (e.g., heat waves, pluvial
floods, and coastal flooding) hazards, including cascading effects, on targeted elements at
risk (e.g., population, buildings, critical infrastructures), and implemented user-tailored
tools supporting sustainable and resilient urban transformation and effective Disaster Risk
Management solutions in a multi-hazard perspective.
